ADIFF 2016 | Day 11

Starting off our 11th and final day of ADIFF 16 was Zootropolis in The Savoy Cinema as part of our Fantastic Flicks #ADIFFflixs strand for children.

Starting off our 11th and final day of ADIFF 16 was Zootropolis in The Savoy Cinema as part of our Fantastic Flicks #ADIFFflixs strand for children.

The final day of ADIFF 16 saw The Dublin Film Critics Circle Awards take place with awards going to Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s Mustang was named as Best Film; Lucile Hadžihalilović, who attended the Festival screening of Evolution was named as Best Director;  
Best Cinematography went to Matyas Erdely for Son of Saul
. Acting Awards were given to Alex Lawther for Departure, Monica Bellucci for Ville Marie
 and Green Room
 for Best Ensemble. Best Screenplay went to Jaco Van Dormael and Thomas Gunzig for The Brand New Testament; 
Laurie Anderson’s Heart of a Dog won
 Best Documentary; Best Irish Film went to the Festival’s Closing Film, Paddy Breathnach’s Viva
; whilst Best Irish Documentary went to Atlantic. 
Jury Prizes were also awarded to Jamie Adams’ Black Mountain Poets
, Sebastian Schipper’s single take Victoria 
and Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa.

After much excitement and anticipation the ADIFF 16 Surprise Film was finally revealed! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot starring Tina Fey, Martin Freeman and Margot Robbie was unveiled by Festival Director Grainne Humphreys to a packed out Savoy.

The final event of ADIFF 16 was our Closing Gala Viva in The Savoy Cinema. Director Paddy Breathnach and Writer Mark O’ Halloran and Luis Alberto García who plays Mama were in attendance on the night.
