Virgin Media DIFF'22 Young Critics Introducing this year's participants. Adelaide Kane I am a 3rd year student studying English, Media and Cultural studies in IADT. I have been a part of young critics since it began in 2020 and enjoy analysing film. I have an interest in writing and directing film for myself in the future. Benedict Hudson Benedict is a Film and Screen Media student at University College Cork. He is a lifelong film fan and is not only passionate about film discussion, but also makes his own short films in his spare time. Brian Griffin Brian Griffin is the resident movie critic at Beat 102-103 in the South East of Ireland, with an Honours Media Degree from the University of Limerick. Cian Griffin A young aspiring film critic and journalist from Cork, studying English with a degree in Film and Screen Media. Darragh Hynes Darragh is a film student from Ratoath, Co. Meath who is in his final year of the Film Diploma in Ballyfermot College of Further Education. He is interested in nearly every form of storytelling, as well as cinematography and enjoys going to the cinema often. Ellie McCarthy My name is Ellie McCarthy, I am a third year film student in TUS and have an interest in photography and fashion. Emily Macrander Emily Macrander is a London-based filmmaker directing short-format work such as music videos, short films and branded content. Her latest short film ‘Without Warning’ premiered at the BFI London and has been screened across the UK with TAPE Collective. Eoin O'Donnell Eoin O'Donnell is a journalism student and film critic, with published reviews in Dublin, Edinburgh, and at the Venice Film Festival. Gabriel Galway I am a freelance digital & traditional artist, comic book writer and muralist. I have a deep love for film and animation and in my free time, enjoy writing material for Dungeons & Dragons and stream sessions live on Twitch. Pia Roycroft My full name is Pia Kirby Storey Roycroft, and I go by any pronouns. I am a disabled LGBTQ+ classically trained musician, artist, screenwriter and photographer in my second year at UCC, majoring in Film & Screen Media and minoring in Art History, with a particular interest in live action and animated horror, slasher and thriller films, as well as film cinematography, instrumentation and production as a whole.
