This directing masterclass will provide filmmakers and industry professional with the opportunity to interrogate and evaluate the work of one of the world’s most acclaimed and renowned film directors, Oscar-winning director Paweł Pawlikowski.

The masterclass will begin as an interview-style workshop in a discussion/lecture setting. Pawlikowski will participate in a Q&A session with Irish filmmaker Paddy Breathnach (I Went Down, Viva, Rosie), investigating the director's unique directorial style and how his earlier experience in documentary filmmaking has affected his approach in his narrative films. The discussion will then be open to the participants.

Screening illustrative clips from Cold War, Ida and Summer of Love, Pawlikowski will talk the participants through the process of directing and producing a film from initial concept to release. It will take an informal structure to put participants at ease, providing a relaxed atmosphere that is conducive to a freer flow and exchange of thoughts, questions and ideas.

The number of participants will be capped at 30 to maintain a more intimate discussion type feel to the event and thus enabling those participants to get more of a direct engagement with the tutor.
