Based on an extraordinary true story, Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire’s gritty, immersive thriller documents the experiences of a boxer, Billy Moore, whose hope of redemption is to literally fight his way out of prison. Jailed in one of Thailand’s most notorious prisons, he finds that taking part in Muay Thai combat tournaments may help him find a way out of prison life. The fact that the film was shot in a former Thai prison, with the cast including many former inmates, gives the movie a sense of urgently and authenticity.
