Killarney actor Jessie Buckley blends her considerable musical and dramatic talents to impressive effect in this boisterous comedy/drama about raw talent, sass and chasing your dream. Rose-Lynn Harlan has a big, bold voice - and an attitude to match - which has fostered, within her, dreams of emulating the country singers she idolises. But her life decisions and circumstances don’t lend themselves to a career and fame in Nashville. Living in Glasgow, just released from a lengthy stint in jail and with two young kids, Rose has more immediate concerns to tackle, as her worried mother keeps reminding her. Forced by economic realities, she takes on a cleaning job, only to find an unexpected champion in her new employer. She endeavours to find a platform for Rose’s fledgling talent, but there are complications aplenty in this moving and stirring drama.

Preceeded by Blackwater Gin reception at Cineworld bar from 7pm.

After her breakout performance in Beast (DIFF 2018), Jessie Buckley is astonishing in the title role in a performance which will break your heart. A perfect film to close the festival.
