Some news from the week-

1. Quincy Jones and Cheryl Boone Isaacs announce that they're working on their new documentary 'American Film: The Black Experience' which will focus on the behind the scenes stories of African Americans in the entertainment industry. Read more on The Hollywood Reporter

2. This past weekend, actress Blake Lively was spotted in Dublin shooting scenes for her new film The Rhythm Section.  Lively was joined by co-star Jude Law and Reed Moreno, director of The Handmaid's Tale. Read more on RTE

3. The standalone Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix now has a release date. The film will be centred around the infamous Joker's origin story and is set be released in October of 2019. Read more on Empire

4. It has been announced that Jason Clarke will join Helen Mirren in HBO's upcoming Catherine the Great. Read more on The Hollywood Reporter

5. The British Films Institute unveils a plan to boost UK indie film including two new funds. Read more on ScreenDaily

*A Prayer Before Dawn- Directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, starring Joe Cole, Vithaya Pansringarm, Panya Yimmumphai,Nicolas Shake, Sura Sirmalai, Pornchanok Mabklang

"The amazing true story of Billy Moore, an English boxer incarcerated in Thailand's most notorious prison. Thrown into a world of drugs and violence, he finds his best chance to escape is to fight his way out in Muay Thai tournaments." 

The Receptionist- Directed by Jenny Lu, starring Josh Whitehouse, Lorraine Stanley, Teresa Daley, Eric Colvin, Shiang-chyi Chen, Daniel York.

"An Anglo-Taiwanese drama in which a young woman struggling to find work takes a job in a seedy massage parlour."

Spitfire- Directed by David Fairhead and Anthony Palmer, starring Tom Neil, Geoffrey Wellum, Mary Ellis.

"Betty is reminiscing when she was in the ATA with her granddaughter Kate when they visit a Spitfire in an aircraft museum. Two hours before, The White House announced an asteroid will hit the earth. What will Betty and Kate do?"

Hotel Artemis- Directed by Drew Pearce, starring Jodie Foster, Sterling K. Brown, Dave Bautista, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day.

"a US sci fi drama following a doctor who runs a hospital catering to the criminal elite of a dystopian Los Angeles."
