Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival is back March 3rd - 14th 2021 as a multi-platform Festival: a new, re-imagined format bringing the full Festival experience to our longtime fans and new audiences in the safest way possible!

The 2021 programme will comprise online screenings on our new Eventive streaming platform. This means you can join us in a celebration of the excitement, beauty and enjoyment of film without leaving the house!

The 2021 Festival programme will have a line-up of exciting new Irish and International feature films and documentaries, seven programmes of short films, alongside archive programmes, virtual red carpets, special artist tributes, panels, interactive workshops, and Q&As with cast and filmmakers.

As always, we will have a great line-up of hard-hitting documentaries, the best contemporary world cinema and our Festival Retrospective will celebrate the women at the vanguard of Black Cinema.

The Festival Closing Gala will be the world premiere of Rachel Carey’s highly anticipated Irish comedy Deadly Cuts, that has just been picked up for Ireland/UK distribution by Wildcard, who previously released the Irish Box Office hits The Young Offenders and Black 47.

There's no doubt that 2021 will be a very different year for us at the Festival, and for our audiences. But, we hope we can retain as much of the Festival atmosphere and experience as ever. And we would be happy to share it with you all again!

Our Sponsors

The Festival is sponsored by Virgin Media, with principal funding from The Arts Council. Our key partners and funders are Screen Ireland, The Merrion Hotel, and 98fm, Wells Cargo, Outer Limits and Wide Eye Media.

We are happy to see so many sponsors back on board this year and would like to give a warm welcome to the new ones. Big thank you for helping us make the 2021 Festival happen!
