Leading Female Filmmaking Talent At The Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival 2019

The credits rolled and lights came up last night on the 17th Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival, Ireland’s premier film event. The successful festival ran from Wednesday February 20th to Sunday March 3rd.

The festival enjoys an international reputation and is considered a vital launch-pad for Irish film and an important showcase of world cinema for discerning audiences. This year’s programme included no less than eleven world premieres, including Dark Lies The Island, She’s Missing, Dub Daze, Floating Structures, What Times Is Death, Land Without God, A Girl from Mogadishu, When Hitchcock Met O’Casey and Dublin On Screen’s The First Was a Boy, Confinement and There’s No Place Like Home.

Dublin Human Rights Film Award Relaunched

Today, Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival and the Irish Council for Civil Liberties officially relaunch the Dublin Human Rights Film Award. Helping to launch the prestigious award which will be unveiled at an intimate gathering on Sunday March 3rd at The Merrion Hotel were Emmet Kirwan, Bulelani Mfaco, Aoife Kelleher, and Sorcha Pollack. Eight films from the festival programme have been identified as being of special merit in their
engagement with the theme of human rights and have been nominated for the award.

Programme Additions: A Girl From Mogadishu, Ben Is Back and The Wedding Guest

Ireland’s premier film event (February 20th – March 3rd), is marking the United Nations International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), today February 6th, by announcing that it will host the World Premiere of A Girl from Mogadishu at a gala screening at Odeon Point Village.
Two further Festival additions are Ben Is Back and The Wedding Guest.

Dublin Gets Set as Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival Returns

The 17th Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival, Ireland’s premier film event, returns to the capital from February 20th to March 3rd, and will paint the town red with a plethora of the world’s leading movie stars and filmmakers flying in especially for the Festival. The Young Programmers initiative offers 15-19 year-olds the chance to understand all aspects of film programming, marketing, exhibition and distribution.
