Virgin Media Discovers is a competition that helps new and established filmmakers and content creators get their stories heard. This prestigious annual presentation at DIFF showcases the winners and their work before it hits TV screens later in the year.
This will be followed by a 20 minute Q&A
TRASNA NA LÍNE
Director: Niamh Bryson.
Emma has just landed a job at a Dublin Gaelscoil. The twist? She doesn’t have a word of Irish! Niamh Bryson’s comedic mockumentary tells the story of how Emma, with the help of two trusty teachers, gets across the line (or not).
NIGHT DRIVER
Director: Michael Carolan.
A taxi driver struggling to support her children in Dublin city begins extorting one of her passengers when she witnesses them being unfaithful in her taxi.
NO TIME WASTERS
Director: Tara O’Callaghan.
A student on the brink of homelessness seeks refuge with a seemingly kind couple, only to be confronted with an impossible proposition that threatens her safety and dignity.
THE KNIFE
Director: Joy Nesbitt.
In Joy Nesbitt’s dark surrealist comedy, a young black woman goes for her first pregnancy scan and discovers that her child is brandishing a knife inside her womb.
