Pavements
Alex Ross Perry
An examination of the iconic 90s indie band, Perry's film appears to be just another music documentary, until it doesn't. This prismatic, narrative and scripted metatextual hybrid intimately shows the eponymous band preparing for their 2022 sold-out reunion tour. Described as a "a semiotic experiment." Pavements amalgamates a fake movie starring Joe Keery, a jukebox stage play called Slanted Enchanted and a museum with the band's wardrobe and never-before-seen notebooks. Perry's project is an ambitious blend of sincerity and sarcasm, featuring an outstandingly riotous performance by Keery.
This film will be screened with Descriptive Subtitles for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SDH).
